Various Artists: Teen Idols | Album Review

Last year Aussie label Future Classic enjoyed a cracking 10th anniversary thanks to a good run from Flight Facilities, Chet Faker, Flume and, Jagwar Ma. Teen Idols is a line-up of acts and range of sounds the label is betting will come good in the next few years. There are contributions from established club names, such as Cashmere Cat (the Norwegian producer's With Me is a superbly pitched slam of melody and chutzpah), Woolfy and Karma Kid. The fun here is gauging the heft and potential of new cats Koa (with the shimmering disco wobble of All of My Love), Hayden James (Something About You), Thurpence (Silk) and Touch Sensitive (the effervescent title track). The hugely promising George Maple's Talk Talk already sounds like a classic in the making. Here's a label with much to grandstand about.
