Every band of a certain vintage can be accused of auto-plagiarism, but some of them are entitled to a bunch of jail-free cards because they were so good in the first place. Belatedly released on the back of this year's quite wonderful Good Vibrations movie, An Introduction to . . . is the most unnecessary of album reissue titles. Who, for goodness sake, hasn't yet heard of Teenage Kicks and My Perfect Cousin? Get Over You and Here Comes the Summer? Wednesday Week? You've Got My Number (Why Don't You Use It)? Still, for those unfortunates who haven't experienced the true sonic pleasures of The Undertones, this 22-track, non-chronological album makes an inarguable case for the band as being one of the best ever exponents of punk/pop. theundertones.com
