Artist: Michael Feinberg's Humblebrag
Genre: Jazz
Label: Behip Records

Mentored at New York University by John Scofield and George Garzone, bassist Michael Feinberg is part of a new generation for whom the old divisions of genre or style are largely irrelevant. Feinberg's previous projects have revolved around his appreciation for drummer Elvin Jones. For this "live in the studio" recording he has called on a modern master of the drum set – Terreon Gully, whose taut blend of funk, hip-hop and jazz rhythms drives Feinberg's band of young lions along with fire and energy. Feinberg's original material is fresh and refreshingly free of empty complexity, giving his group, which includes Milesian trumpeter Billy Buss and rising pianist Julian Shore, material that they can stretch out on without getting lost in technique. michaelfeinbergmusic.com
