Artist: Fiach Moriarty
Genre: Singer / Songwriter
Label: Marcella Records

Here’s another Irish singer- songwriter who has toiled at the coalface of the music industry, only to scarper with barely enough dirty nuggets to keep warm.

Fiach Moriarty (he was plain Fiach when he released his debut album, So I, in 2010) has grafted apace over the past few years, reshaping his heretofore quite spartan sound into a far broader offering.

With a loose concept focusing on social and political activism (mixed with deftly woven memoir), the songs often approach radio-friendly power pop (that’s a good thing), and rarely sound forced (ditto).

The titles might too obviously signpost topics (Revolution, Mount Street Bridge, Freedom and Resistance, Oil and Water), but there's a confidence that marks Moriarty out.
