Bang the Beat #1

Our monthly podcast highlighting the best new tracks from the dance music underground

THROWING SHADE - MYSTIC PLACES
Throwing Shade is a producer, DJ and barrister from London. She has her own show on NTS Radio, broadcast on the first Saturday of every month, where she plays rare music and field recordings from all over the world. Mystic Places is out now on Kassem Mosse's Ominira label.

HUERCO S - RAGTIME U.S.A. (WARNING)
Huerco S. is a producer from Kansas, currently living in Brooklyn. This track is one of the highlights off his debut album, Colonial Patterns, which came out last month on Software. He plays a free show the Bernard Shaw in Dublin on November 17th.

BOYA - VALVE
Boya is a young producer from Dublin. This is a track from his first vinyl release, a 12" out this month on the New York label, Mister Saturday Night. Kind of a Blawan feel off this, playful, pounding techno. He will be supporting Huerco S. on the 17th.

LUMIGRAPH - CAPE HORN
Lumigraph is another young producer from Dublin, though he has just recently moved to New York. His first physical release, the Nautically Inclined tape on Opal Tapes, came out earlier this year and this is from his new EP, Yacht Cruiser, which is out now, also on Mister Saturday Night.

TR-ONE - VICEROY 9C
TR-One are a pair of producers and DJs originally from Carlow. This is from their third release on Dublin's Apartment Records, a split 12" with English acid crew Phantom Planet Outlaws. If you can find it, their last 12" as Bande Apartment (with New Jackson) is pure, disco-fuelled, dancefloor gold.

FOUR TET - KOOL FM (CONTAINER REMIX)
Last track this month comes from Rhode Island-based producer Container. Ben UFO played this track on the Hessle Audio Rinse FM show recently and it went off big time. There's barely a hint of Four Tet's original left alive in the middle of the Mills-like madness.
