TwosomenessMorr Music ***

The original Pasqual Pinon wasa Texas circus performer who traded as the Two Headed Mexican because he appeared to have two heads. Today’s Pasqual Pinon are teenage Icelandic sisters Jófríður and Ásthildur Ákadóttir, who will snare you in their songs’ delicate webs of intimacy and simplicity. On the twins’ second album, there are certainly times when they appear to be thinking as one as they embue their songs and crunchy electronic textures with a soft beauty and beguiling tenderness. Their sweet, gentle voices go well with the battery of ethereal harmonies and bare atmospherics, which turn songs such as Good and Bad Things, the expansive Evgeny Kissin’ and Sumarmal emotional powerhouses. That the Ákadóttirs are capable of producing music as magnetic as this bodes well for their future.
