There’s a first time for everything, and this may well be the first time a former dentist has taken a starring role at Junior Spesh. From Irkutsk in southeastern Siberia, Nina Kraviz (pictured) is a DJ and producer with a rising profile on the back of her highly effective deep, dark and slo-mo house grooves, which put a new spin on classic house shapes. You’ll find many of these grooves on Nina’s recent self-titled debut album on Matt Edwards’ Rekids label.

It was the 2006 Red Bull Music Academy in Melbourne that put Kraviz on the production track, while a long-running residency at Moscow’s ace Propaganda club put her on the DJ map. These days you’ll find Kraviz on the European touring circuit playing festivals, Ibiza clubs and big rooms.
