O’Rourke trumps Kenny with post-budget phone-in

Noonan and Howlin will answer listeners’ budget questions on RTE radio

Government Ministers have refused to 'move the dial' for their traditional post-budget phone-in and have confirmed they will appear on Sean O'Rourke's RTÉ Radio One programme.

Minister for Finance Michal Noonan and Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform Minister Brendan Howlin will answer questions from listeners next Wednesday, the day after the budget, in a format used by the Pat Kenny show over the last decade.

However, both Ministers will appear on the Newstalk's Breakfast morning programme with van Yates and Chris Donoghue for a 20 minute interview.

In a comment to the Irish Examiner Pat Kenny said the fact he only moved to Newstalk six weeks ago mitigated against a change.

He added that he thought one of the Ministers could have been made available to each show.

Both Ministers have a hectic round of media commitments in the 24 hours after the budget.

Mr Howlin will do a video interview with irishtimes.com immediately after the budget.
