Amateur Photographer of the Year Awards finalists: Monochrome

Our expert panel of judges have narrowed down the thousands of entries into a shortlist of 16. See who made the finalists cut in the Monochrome category

Here are the finalists in the Monochrome category for our Amateur Photographer of the Year Awards. Our expert panel of ten judges have sifted through the 7,000 pictures entered by over 1,100 photographers and have honed their selection down to sixteen images in each category.

There are seven categories: Street; Colour; Nature; Portrait; Monochrome; Open; and Travel.

The standard was very high and a great variety of images were submitted; from charming snapshots to carefully posed studio portraits; spontaneous candid moments of street photography to experimental constructed images in the Open category; sparkling colour images to moody monochrome. As you can see here the judges have had difficult choices to make.

The winners will be announced in print and online on Saturday July 4th. Who will take the top prizes of €1,000 each for Photographer of the Year and Photograph of the Year? Who will win gold, silver and bronze in each category?
