Web Log: Get umbrella alerts from Yahoo! Weather

New app gives users a 15-minute warning before snow or rain is due

Irish summers usually dictate that we should have an umbrella, rain jacket, flip-flops and a bottle of sun cream on hand at all times. Surely there is way for technology and the weather forecast to give us more of a heads-up? The new, improved Yahoo! Weather uses the latest weather reports to send you a warning 15 minutes before snow or rain is due to arrive.

Yahoo! Weather also promises more accuracy, with the ability to “zoom in” on microclimates. Something tells me that my iPhone will be pinging with rain alerts all the day long but the consolation is that this app is genuinely gorgeous, well-designed and user friendly.

Background images are pulled from geotagged Flickr photos. A swipe up reveals the weather for your area in the form of infographics detailing temperature fluctuations, humidity, visibility, wind strength, UV index, etc. Us Irish love to talk about the weather and this app gives even more to talk about.
