US software firm Slack announces 100 jobs for Dublin

US software firm Slack is to create 100 jobs over the next two years with the opening of a new European headquarters in Dublin.

The company said the new roles will be in customer support and account management roles

Slack is a messaging platform for teams that integrates a wide number of services including Twitter, MailChimp Asana, Dropbox and Zendesk. The platform, which was launched in February 2014, has over 750,000 daily active users and customers include Adobe, Airbnb, BuzzFeed, Dow Jones, eBay, Expedia, HBO and The New York Times.

Headquartered in San Francisco and with offices in Vancouver, the company has raised $340 million in the past few years from investors which have included Andreessen Horowitz.

“The launch of our European headquarters is a significant milestone for Slack as we grow our business,” said James Sherrett, Slack’s Dublin-based accounts team lead. “With an initial focus on customer experience and account management, our Dublin office will play a central role in our international footprint.”

The investment, which was announced by Taoiseach Enda Kenny, is supported by the Government through IDA Ireland.
