One More Thing: Toe pain, no gain for Nolan

Ray Nolan, who sold Web Reservations International for more than €200 million in 2009, has surely had better weeks.

First, it emerged Nolan is to be replaced as chairman of Skyscanner, the online travel business that is gearing up for an IPO. Following a cash injection by Sequoia Capital, the company has hired a new chairman, Margaret Rice-Jones, a former Motorola executive.

Then, Nolan injures his toe playing rugby and finds himself pencilled in today to have it amputated.

Nolan tweeted yesterday: “*Props toe* When the donkey 2nd row you just lifted in a line-out decides to plant 20 stone on yer foot coming down . . . my amputation is tomorrow.”

But at least he has a sense of humour about it: “Bad – having toe amputated. Good – knowing you’ll get 10 per cent off a pedicure for life. I secretly wonder if losing a toe qualifies me for some sort of oldie amputees Olympics :)”.
