Garmin brings style to wearable tech

Vivofit 2 will be available early this year

The wearable tech sector is a crowded one these days, and if CES 2015 is anything to go by, that's not going to change any time soon.

Garmin has expanded its wearable fitness line, adding an updated version of its Vivofit tracker, and interchangeable accessory bands that are aimed at helping the ban blend in no matter what the occasion.

The Vívofit 2 has a visual move bar on its always-on display, audible alerts that prompt you to move more, and an activity timer that tracks and analyses individual workouts. garmin has also added a backlight to the new version of the band so it’s easier to see in the dark.

It also has a one-year battery life, which means you don’t need to remember to charge it, and it is water resistant to 50 metres. The Vivofit 2 can also be connected to a heart rate monitor.

The device also links in with Garmin’s Connect Mobile app to pull data from the band throughout the day, while MyFitnessPal users can use the band to keep track of calories burned.

The Vivofit 2 is set to go on sale in the first quarter of the year.
