Gadgets:This website will unleash the inner geek and gadget freak. It’s packed full of amazingly expensive yet unnecessary stuff that you must own. Now. Until this moment I had no idea that my life was incomplete without Jedi bathrobes, a unicorn mask and a bubble wrap calendar. The flying hovercraft, however, might be slightly out of my price range at $190,000. Zany products aside, you will find some nice gift ideas such as the Bear Grylls Ultimate Survival Kit.
Transport:City Hook is a new mobile app straight out of the NovaUCD incubation centre. This is perfect for the frequent flyer. Covering 130 European cities, it calculates the best transport options between the airport and your city destination, which can be a nightmare when factoring in arrival time and various modes of travel while calculating the most cost-efficient option. Creators Kevin O’Shaughnessy and Tommaso Solesin will soon add additional European and North American destinations.
Martini in the Morning
Radio:Don’t worry, this isn’t a bizarre culinary guide, it’s one of the best radio stations on the web. Martini In The Morning is a live, streaming 24/7 station blasting out the lounge music of yesteryear. Think Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Nat King Cole, Louis Prima and Ella Fitzgerald. You can stream from the website or pick it up through radio apps such as TuneIn or WunderRadio. So pull the curtains, pour yourself a Scotch and pretend you’re in the era of Mad Men.
Dublin Culture Night
App:Tomorrow is Dublin Culture Night. Prepare yourself for an evening of free access to museums, galleries, historic buildings and artist’s studios. The free to download Culture Night App, launched by the Temple Bar Cultural Trust, is designed to give you a way of organising your night as you plan to immerse yourself in all the art, drama, literature, dance and more that the capital has to offer. Culture Night is also happening in 33 other locations across Ireland.
