UPC trials free wifi hotspots for customers

Customers visiting a participating home can access free wifi without a password

UPC is trialling a new wifi service in Limerick which will allow customers to access wifi on their mobile device when visiting a participating UPC broadband home without the need for a password.

Using its current fibre-power network, the company has created a new network in UPC homes which is independent of the homeowner’s existing wifi service.

The new secure network will be available for visitors’ use, without affecting the homeowner’s broadband speed, data usage or online security.

Up to five people can connect to each Horizon Wi-Free hot spot at a time.
