Estonia to offer e-citizenship to foreign investors and businesses

With this digital Estonian ID you could open a bank account in the country or even incorporate a legal entity without ever having set foot on Estonian soil

The Estonian government is already one of the most tech savvy in the world; all citizens over 15 have microchipped ID cards linked to their employment, tax, banking, health details etc.

Going one step further, the Estonian government’s chief information officer Taavi Kotka has announced that it will soon begin issuing ID cards to non-residents. With this digital Estonian ID you could open a bank account in the country or even incorporate a legal entity without ever having set foot on Estonian soil. Target e-citizens include foreign investors, business people, scientists and similar.
