Independent mulls move southside for first time

Media group is considering a move out of its current Talbot St offices

Independent News & Media (INM) has confirmed it is “reviewing” its location in Dublin’s north inner city.

The media company which publishes the best-selling Sunday Independent and other titles as well as owning various digital businesses has been based on Talbot Street, Dublin 1 since late 2004.

It was previously based on the northside in an office on Middle Abbey Street where it had been based since 1924 before it sold out 80 years later to Arnotts for €26 million. Industry speculation is that the digital and print business hopes to move to the south-side for the first time in its history.

“The company is reviewing its long term requirements for office accommodation, but it has sufficient space for its needs and time remaining on its lease so there are no imminent plans to move,” INM said in a statement. “It is far too early to speculate about location.”
