He was one of four internal and external candidates who made the final short-list for the position.

Sunday Business Post managing director Paul Cooke said Ian’s appointment “comes at an exciting time in the life of the business with the imminent roll out of new digital platforms, combined with the stabilisation in the circulation of the paper with the latest ABC figures showing sales being maintained in excess of 34,000.”.

He said a major part of Ian’s new responsibility will be the roll out of our new digital initiative.

Mr Kehoe said: “I am delighted to have been selected as one of Ireland’s youngest national newspaper editors. I have ambitious plans for the future development of the Sunday Business Post, both in print and digital form.”

The Sunday Business Post is owned by private equity house Key Capital and newspaper veteran Paul Cooke.

The paper was founded in 1989 by journalists Frank Fitzgibbon, Aileen O’Toole, Damien Kiberd and James Morrissey.
