Schoolhouse Hotel company profits increase to almost €1m

Companies in EJ King group show varying fortunes

Accumulated profits for the Schoolhouse Hotel Ltd, which runs a hotel of the same name in Ballsbridge, Dublin, rose to €993,840 at the end of February, 2014, from €571,017 at the same time in 2013, according to abridged accounts just filed.

The company is part of a group of companies owned by Galway businessman Terry Sweeney by way of EJ King Bar Ltd. The group does not publish consolidated accounts.

Abridged accounts for the Westwood Hotel Ltd, Dangan, Galway, show it had a deficit of shareholders’ funds of €10.5 million at the end of February last, which is about the same deficit it had the previous year’s end. A loan to AIB was secured against a number of assets including Busker Brownes and Kirby’s Restaurant, both of Cross Street, Galway, as well as companies within the EJ King group.

Abridged accounts for EJ King Bar Ltd, Clifden, Co Galway, show it had accumulated profits at the end of February last of €4.2 million, down from €4.5 million at the end of the previous financial year. Rent paid to Mr Sweeney during the year was €77,015.
