Celtic Media Festival adds pitching forum

Producers invited to submit ideas for history and biography programmes

Independent producers with an idea for a history or biography television programme – drama, documentary or something in between – have been invited to pitch their ideas at the Celtic Media Festival in Dungarvan in April.

The festival, an annual broadcasting industry get-together that rotates around the Celtic nations and regions, has this year added a pitching forum to “widen the scale of commissioning opportunities” for the indies, with commissioning and acquisitions executives from Australia and New Zealand joining those from Ireland and the UK for the inaugural forum.

The festival’s plan is to pick a different international territory and a different programme genre each year. Short written pitches can be made via pitch@ celticmediafestival.co.uk and then a dozen independent production companies will be invited to make pitches to the forum.

The festival, which also features screenings, panel debates and an awards ceremony, comes to Co Waterford from April 20th-22nd.
