Decora Blinds to create 80 jobs in Antrim

Family owned business currently employs 500 across sites in Lisburn and Birmingham

A family owned blind manufacturing business in Lisburn plans to create 80 jobs in Co Antrim as part of a new expansion project.

Decora Blind Systems, which has been trading for 35 years, currently employs 500 people across two sites in Lisburn and in Birmingham in England.

The company designs and manufactures a range of window furnishings from roller blinds to shutters under a portfolio of different brands.

The North's Minister for Enterprise Jonathan Bell said the local firm was a good example of a "dynamic, innovative business" with obvious export ambitions.

“Decora is ranked as one of the largest window blind producers in the UK and its clients include some of the largest independent blind companies in the country,” Mr Bell said.

“Once in place, the 80 new jobs will generate £1.4 million (€1.9 million) annually in additional salaries and offer employment opportunities across a range of roles including customer service and manufacturing.”

The company’s latest expansion project is being backed by £240,000 of financial support from Invest NI.
