Rathsallagh golf course returns to market at €1.35m

Asking price of 274-acre course next to Rathsallagh House Hotel was €1.75m last year

The Rathsallagh golf course in Dunlavin, Co Wicklow, is back on the market at a reduced asking price after its sale by tender last year was not completed.

Lisney and Jordan Chartered Surveyors are now seeking €1.35 million – the equivalent of €5,000 per acre – for the extensive property which was originally for sale at €1.75 million.

The selling agents say the 111 hectares (274 acres) may also be of interest to a number of regionally based farmers looking for additional land for dairy and tillage purposes.

There is equal confidence that Rathsallagh may continue to be used as a golf course because of its location beside the popular Rathsallagh House Hotel. The hotel has various rights of way over the parkland course which is located in west Wicklow and within an hour’s drive of Dublin.

The hotel and its 260 acre grounds continues to trade successfully, partially because of its thriving wedding business.

The Rathsallagh course was designed by Christy O’Connor jnr and Peter O’Connor and was officially opened in 1995 by the legendary Australian golfer Peter Thomson.

The estate is particularly attractive with several lakes and small streams meandering through it.

There is also a spacious clubhouse extending to 1,050 sq m (11,302 sq ft) along with a car park.
