Banker falls to his death in London’s Canary Wharf

An unidentified man in his 30s has died after falling from JP Morgan’s European headquarters this morning

A man has died after falling from the European headquarters of JP Morgan bank in London’s Canary Wharf. Police are not treating the death as suspicious.

The man, believed to be in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene at 25 Bank Street just after 8am, the Metropolitan Police said. A force spokesman said he was found on the ninth floor of the 33 floor skyscraper.

“We believe we know the identity of the deceased but we await formal identification”, he added.

The building in London’s financial district has been the headquarters of the bank’s Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) operation since July 2012, according to the company’s website. It was formerly the European headquarters of Lehman Brothers Holdings, which filed for the largest bankruptcy in US history in 2008.
