Reading: A Preparation for Death, by Greg Baxter. Who says contemporary writers aren’t writing about contemporary Ireland? Baxter is all over 21st century Dublin, and all over a lot more besides. Will come back with more thoughts when I’m done.

Watching: The West Wing, Season 4. Yes, I know, but I missed it the first time around. Fascinating insights into a fantasy presidency. Claudia Jean gets my vote.

Listening to: Po’ Girl. Because I’ve run out of Be Good Tanyas albums to buy. Which, as you can see (below) is a crying shame.

    • You’ve left Upfront, Fiona! And we’re expected to go cold turkey just like that on the snippets about the former Beyoncé who doesn’t quite fit into the house? Yes, sure, reading, watching and listening to is personal stuff, but only in a veneered way, like Habitat furniture. Maybe a new ‘Outback’ column?

    • Fiona says:

PFW! Yes, alas, had to relinquish my Upfront to Roisin. And you’re right, this ain’t nearly as personal. And the poor man still doesn’t fit in the house, bless, but is much more adept at negotiating small spaces than he ever thought he would be. Picture the BFG in Bilbo Baggin’s house, and you have some idea . . .

Could you sneakily start writing about your personal life on this blog instead? Or maybe start another blog?
