    Nice one, bloggers!

    Fiona McCann

Big congratulations to all the winners at the weekend’s Irish Blog Awards. Course I’m particularly pleased to see my esteemed colleague Jim Carroll get the nod for Best Blog from a Journalist. Kudos also to Panti, for this excellent call to arms.  Not to mention the fabliss beaut.ie winning the Grand Prix! Huzzah!  Alas, I could not attend festivities this year due to work commitments, but by all accounts it was a right old shindig and I’m gutted to have missed out.  Meanwhile, back on the arts and culture tip, Dublin is gearing up for One City One Book, adopting this year a Wildean theme. The Picture of Dorian Gray is the book of choice, and anyone who fancies joining a discussion on its contents can also visit the Irish Times Book Club where it features as the April choice.

Finally, in defiance of this sodden Monday, I give you:

    • I missed it too, and was disappointed not to meet world-famous Annie. I’d hoped to allocate a whole chapter of my memoirs to my encounter with her.

    • Fiona says:

Pretty Far West: Am kind of glad you didn’t go as if you HAD gone I would have felt terribly bad to have missed a meeting. But what was your excuse? From what I’m told, Galway is IN the West, and if your blog title is to be believed, so are you. Ergo, you were practically on the blog awards doorstep – why didn’t you go in? (As for Annie, you’ll have to arrange that through her agent.)
