    Les Holidays

    Fiona McCann

Gone holidaying again. Books I’m bringing: All Names Have Been Changed, by Claire Kilroy, The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao, by Junot Diaz and Lovers and Strangers by David Grossman. Back soon.

    • Eimear says:

Nice picks. All Names Have Been Changed is excellent. Junot Diaz’s book got a scathing review in last weekend’s Tribune, which weirdly makes me want to read it.

    • Steve K says:

The Junot Diaz book is good. There are better “immigrant experience” novels out there.

As for the Tribune, that review was probably written by an 18 year old intern.

    • SinĂ©ad says:

I really liked Diaz’s book. After reading through a very historical IMPAC shortlist, it was a breath of fresh air.
Speaking of which, what did you make of the winner?

Kilroy is really coming into her own as a writer. ANHBC actually reminded me a lot of Banville.

Eimear, if you’re a Kilroy fan, there are three 20-minute plays by women (including one of hers) being read at The Peacock tonight, but I’m not sure if it’s sold out.
