    Status quo

    Fiona McCann

Reading: Bright Shiny Morning by James Frey (With Ed O’Loughlin’s Not Untrue and Not Unkind lined up for afters)

Attending: Ages of the Moon at the Peacock tonight.

    Listening to: Bon Iver. Still.

    Checking out: http://events.artscouncil.ie/ - FINALLY!

    • Fiona says:

Jim: HAHA! Don’t be ridiculous – that’s far too fun a story for this here serious arts and culture blog!

    • John Self says:

I seem to have avoided the James Frey juggernaut. I was offered a review copy of Bright Shiny Morning but declined. Do let me know if I missed a treat. The Ed O’Loughlin was recommended by someone on the Penguin Blog as one-to-watch for 2009, and the Larkin title did pique my interest. Again do report back, and I’ll scrounge a copy if you reckon it’s worth a look.

I’m currently reading some of the titles on the Independent Foreign Fiction Prize longlist, which is both more, and less, fun than it sounds.

Bon Iver: tried listening to it again the other day after an exchange with Ruby on the Anti-Room, but still don’t love it.

    • Fiona says:

John Self: I’ll keep you posted on the Frey book, which I’m reading mainly because I am interviewing him tomorrow. Keep at Bon Iver – he might just grow on you.
