I learned with dismay that the rather excellent Facebook application Scrabulous may soon be no more after Hasbro and Mattel, the makers of a somewhat similar board game with a somewhat similar name, wrote to the social networking site’ demanding Scrabulous be pulled from the site due to copyright issues. How am I ever supposed to get good enough to win a single game against anyone if they just shut it down?

The founder of Facebook Mark Zuckerberg has been forced to apologise for the manner in which it launched an appallingly intrusive advertising system on the social networking site. On his Facebook blog Mark Zuckerberg admitted Facebook had “made a lot of mistakes building this feature, but we’ve made even more with how we’ve handled them. We simply did a bad job with this release, and I apologise for it. “I’m not proud of the way we’ve handled this situation and I know we can do better.”

Forget facebook, a bunch of Swiss techies have developed a web-based service which promises to be off-your-facebook. The site, www.localina.com will find a pub just like your local anywhere in the world – all you have to do is type in its details and it will find a matching pub in another specified country. The men behind the site claim it will be ideal for anyone arriving in a new city – as long as they don’t want to experience anything. remotely new or interesting, we would imagine.
