    THE FINAL TEN

It was a tough call but the judges have finally whittled down our longlist for the Powers Short Story competition. The following stories and writers have made it onto the shortlist. Congratulations to all ten, one of whom is set to walk away with the €10,000 prize. For now, enjoy reading and next Saturday, May 26th, we’ll publish the winning story in The Irish Times Saturday Magazine. Thanks so much to all who entered  (4,200-plus). It’s been fascinating to read so many different takes on the theme of celebrating what truly matters. We hope you enjoyed the experience.

Meanwhile, CLICK HERE to go to our video page where Shane Hegarty and Roisin Ingle, two of this year’s judges, are discussing the entries and what they meant to them.
