Grimes shoots a feminist arrow across the indie pop battlefield*

Grimes ends her touring and album promotion cycle with some strong words.

This excellent Tumblr post by Grimes lays out a disgruntled manifesto of sorts with excellent honesty.

Grimes is of course an outrageously talented musician, producer and songwriter, yet like most women who step into a studio or on to a stage, she is obviously subjected to the deeply embedded sexism of the music industry. And just because she’s cool, and doesn’t put herself out there as a sexual object as many popstars do, it doesn’t make a difference. She deserves a high five for saying it.
