DarĂ¡ine Mulvihill will be presenting Channel 4′s paralympics coverage with Jonathan Edwards. This is a giant gig for an Irish presenter. DarĂ¡ine is an old school friend of mine, one of the loveliest, smartest and most inspiring people you could ever meet. When she lost her legs aged 16 after contracting meningitis in transition year, she was in hospital for a year. But she came back to school, rocked her Leaving Cert, won the Person of the Year award in 2001, went to DCU, and was appointed to the Irish Council of State by President Mary McAleese for her second term in 2004 before working in RTE. Really looking forward to her doing her thing from August 29th.
