It turned out that thousands of blind items from the past two years weren’t in fact wrong with Katie Holmes announced her divorce from Tom Cruise at the weekend.

While Cruise is filming in Iceland, Joey Potter is hiding out in New York although the NY Daily News reports that a bunch of Church of Scientology dudes are keeping tabs on her. You know you’re in trouble when Rupert Murdoch is calling your organisation “creepy, maybe even evil”.

Holmes and Cruise’s daughter Suri is with the former in New York, and TMZ reports Holmes was worried Cruise was going to pack Suri off to radical Scientology organisation Sea Org. Weird.

Turns out 33 is the magic number for Cruise’s wives. That’s the age all three have been when they’ve bailed on him. Cruise is lawyering up, using the same attorney who was part of the Nicole Kidman marriage break up negotiations.
