I love how the music in this trailer echoes the breathing sounds from Bane. But, Does it bring us any closer to the real question of whether this is the film where Batman dies? If Bane was the dude who broke the bat’s back in the comic series, then I’m increasingly thinking that that’s what’s going to happen in the Dark Knight Rises. It would make sense I suppose; the introduction of Bane, the end of the Nolan trilogy, the playful title whereby ‘rises’, while detailing the return of Batman post-Dark Knight, might actually eventually mean ‘falls’.

There’s been a tremendous amount of speculation about whether or not Batman kicks the bucket, like this piece of ‘Advanced Batman Theory’ that thinks so, along with Martin Modine saying people die, legends live on in an interview with Comic Book Resources, which adds fuel to the theory that Batman will die (and Gotham will fall with him) and someone else will become a new Batman.

David S. Goyer who wrote the trilogy told Empire magazine clues from the comic book series well mapped out which Nolan might be taking inspiration from. As that piece shows, the most obvious source of inspiration is 1993′s ‘Knightfall’ Part One.

If I had to put money on it, I’d say Batman is toast. Nolan doesn’t do things by halves.
