Every week this Q&A will find out what various heads in music, film, fashion, theatre, bukes, performance, tech stuff, and whatever else are consuming.

Eoghan Kidney is an award-winning London-based Irish director, music video maker and animator.

What are you reading?
The megabook that is Infinite Jest by David Foster Wallace, which is taking me ages to read but it’s too amazing to stop.

Last film you saw and your verdict?
The Raid: 15 guys beat up 15 guys 15 times in a very exciting manner.

You have a golden ticket to Eason’s, what magazine is first on your list?
Amiga Format. They still print that, right?

What are your most clicked bookmarks?
Movie blogs written by idiots and dangerousminds.

When you fall into a YouTube hole what’s the general subject matter of the videos you’re watching?
Old making-ofs. I love them. I’m watching a Dennis Hopper one at the moment when he was making The Last Movie. Not as crazy as he’s made out to be, but still crazy. Serious time-thievery.

What track should we listen to right now?
Killer Mike – Jojo’s Chillin. Hilariously black hiphop storytelling! I recommend hiphopgenius.com for lyric interpretation too. Lots of fun discovering the meaning behind some of the more obscure words and phrases. i.e. “keeping it trill” – trill: A blend of “true” and “real”. lolz.

Which boxset/TV series do you have on the go at the moment?
Sharpe.

Last gig you went to and your verdict?
Rustie in Twisted Pepper was a blast. I hadn’t been back to Ireland in a couple of months and ended up getting fucked up with a load of heads from the past. It was quite hard to go back to London the next day. Partly because I didn’t go to bed and I got the ferry.

Which app do you use the most?
The Guardian app.

And finally, if you watch one film this month, make it…
The Raid.

Eoghan’s new music video for Gin by Natalie Findlay (Polydor) is out this week.

His latest short film We, The Masses is based on the artwork Robyn O’Neil, whom he collaborated with at Werner Herzog’s Rogue Film School. Here’s the trailer:

Previously on Pop Lives: Michael Roe and Phillip McMahon.
