It’s also World Goth Day, although wishing a goth a ‘Happy World Goth Day’ doesn’t feel appropriate.

Tonight Jedward compete in the first semi-final for the-only-good-thing-about-Europe-at-the-moment, the Eurovision. They are the last performers on the night, which is traditionally good for the goldfish memories of those voting.

Here’s Jedward talking about how they think they can win the Eurovision: “If you’re shocked by thunder, it doesn’t mean you’re going to die, but you still remember being shocked by thunder.”

In the paper today, Karen Fricker writes about Jedward’s preparations, including their purchase of two pet rabbits called Euro and Vision.

Iran and Azerbaijan are bitch-slapping each other in a whine about the Eurovision.

The Eurovision being in Azerbaijan doesn’t mean any let up on the Azeri regime’s human rights abuses. Yesterday, at least ten protestors were detained according to Reuters.

Here’s an American’s guide to the Eurovision.

Meanwhile, is John planning a solo career?
