  • Two Perspectives on the ‘Cruiser’

    December 24, 2008 @ 10:24 am | by Deaglán de Bréadún

Two very different perspectives on Conor Cruise O’Brien, who died last week. Niall Meehan provides a highly-critical analysis. Michael McDowell (not the former minister and PD leader) is much more sympathetic. (more…)

  • Sock and Awe

    December 23, 2008 @ 10:51 am | by Deaglán de Bréadún

It’s difficult not to see the funny side of the incident where the “journalist” threw a shoe at President Bush in Baghdad ( see also previous blog on the subject) and I have to share this piece of badinage with you. (more…)

  • Once more into the breach on the Lisbon Treaty

    November 17, 2008 @ 12:05 pm | by Deaglán de Bréadún

Mamma mia, here we go again, another Lisbon referendum, if the heavy hints being dropped by Minister for Foreign Affairs Micheál Martin are anything to go by. He said on RTE last night a decision on the issue would be made in advance of the next EU summit in Brussels on 11 and 12 December. (more…)
