    I know from the response to various posts I have written about Gaza that there is great interest in the issue among readers of this blog. Many people have a feeling of helplessness as the tragedy continues to unfold.   • ‘Show me the money — not!’ says Enda Kenny

    The big political story of the day turned out to be Enda Kenny’s surprise announcement that he had asked for his TD’s salary of €106,581 to be cut by five per cent. This is all over the news media  but at time of writing it is unclear whether he can in fact cut his own pay (or indeed if anyone else can). The mandarins themselves could not give me a clear substantive answer on this. (more…)

    Your humble scribe was too busy to blog this week, what with covering the Progressive Democrat meeting in Newbridge to discuss their funeral arrangements, followed by a dash to Clare – but only inches across the border from Limerick –  for the two-day Fine Gael “think-in”, and then on to Tralee to check out the Greens.
