Great video, not sure about the candidate. Since the first one was deleted, I have provided a link to another. Have we got an Irish Alvin Greene? For more info on this unusual political figure see http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0710/40199.html

    • and that video is gone fast!

    • The first video was called “Alvin Greene is on the Scene” and it was a lively musical production. As you can see it has been deleted from YouTube because of a copyright claim. Greene has been aptly dubbed the Real Forrest Gump. Here is more on the candidate: http://www.newser.com/story/96130/hes-the-real-forrest-gump.html

Everyone has one variety of it or other. Spirit to serve. Self- or others. Sure seems a strange one this. Cris-crossing the State he was eh? Was he linking up with followers of some new meme? Putting together a political base that seeks nothing more than their pols should act as they are should be what they be? See a lot of people, including his accuser’s mother have judged and found him guilty of obscenity charges. I got told off by a judge for flipping someone the bird. Actually it was the exact same gesture Princess Anne indulged in on occasion. And they were lucky and undeserving of those two fingers of mine. By rights they shoulda got five. Then ten. But anyway. It’ll be interesting to see how he makes out in the September debate. Now that we are told there is one. Who’d have known? South Carolina rarely features in large font on these august pps.

There was a Euro election candidate a few years ago who stood smiling under the slogan “Stop the Paedophiles”. That is among the more unorthodox political campaigns I have seen.

      @ 1 DS — Flowers By Irene?

Actually, looking at the (2nd) video clip, above, I feel sorry for the guy. Needs help. Don’t think whatever he’s apparently on in that video is doing him any good but has politics come to this? Setting up a virtual politician online so that s/he can be lambasted, virtually…………..or something

    • That would be the one and only Clifford T Reid who wore what looked like a bullet proof vest in his election posters too

    • To be serious for a minute and given recent controversy, Mr Reid might get a fair number of votes in places like Co Wicklow for his stance and for highlighting his opposition to paedophiles.

    • He’d be a Labour candidate in that case! More broadly the populist stuff coming from prospective Labour candidates whether Colm Keaveney in Galway East or the folks in Wicklow is very worrying for the prospects of a government that actually has a mandate to do anything once elected other than be outraged all the time.

    • Hmm. If Mr Keaveny wishes to respond, he’s more than welcome.
