Predictions Hard to Make Especially About Future

Nobody is rushing to the bookies’ shop but the smart money appears to be on Enda Kenny to win the vote today, by about six votes. Now predictions are very hard to make, especially about the future and we shall know the truth sometime between 4pm and 7pm, according to forecasts. Party chairman Padraic McCormack says “two or three o’clock”.
A really interesting rumour is that Michael Noonan will be named as Enda Kenny’s new finance spokesman. This despite the fact that Noonan has been generally assumed to be a Bruton supporter.
HEALTH WARNING: The closer you get to an event, the less reliable rumours become, so don’t take any of this as ‘gospel’.
It will all be over in a few hours anyway. As so often Yeats sums it up:
Dear shadows, now you know it all
All the folly of a fight
With a common wrong or right
The innocent and the beautiful have no enemy but time
Mind you, the proportion of Leinster House politicians who could be descibed as innocent/beautiful is not large!
