    Let’s all join the BNP?

British National Party leader Nick Griffin.

Great news! Progress, tolerance and all of that. It looks like the British National Party (BNP) will finally start accepting non-whites! It makes perfect sense. What could be more convincing than a black guy or Asian woman telling other racial minorities that they are wrecking the lives of decent, hard working Anglo-Saxons and Celts, and that said minorities should leave Britain? Nick Griffin must be kicking himself for not coming up with the idea.

Seriously though, that the BNP have been forced to remove their racial restrictions to party membership is good for progress. Granted, the first non-whites who join may have to tolerate all manner of verbal abuse. Personally, rational or not, I would be worried about a party zealot following me home and leaving me a welcome to the club gift, like a burning cross. But despite those challenges, I can only imagine that there will be no shortage of people previously excluded from the BNP, who will choose to join the group and ‘change it from the inside’.

A multicultural BNP can only be less venomous than today’s version of the party. The worst elements of the group will leave when faced with prospect of sitting down with those they perceive to be the source of their troubles. And who knows, in time, the party may change beyond recognition, if it doesn’t shrivel up and die.

    Welcome to the mainstream BNP.

to be fair I dont see it as progress, that the state can interfere in who can join a voluntary association seems like PC gone mad. It seems like the perfect way to blow apart pressure groups regardless of how odeous the particular group is. Maybe the farmers association should sign up to the green party and An Taisce en masse to bring them into line?
I assume the BNP will get good mileage out of this and can play the “most oppressed people on earth card”

Yes, Liam I agree. I don’t see how it is the State’s business to decide who should be in a party – doesn’t that miss the point of party completely? What next?

Anyway, I can’t see why very many minorities would want to join, apparent from as a protest action.

Leave the BNP alone and let them be on the fringe where they belong.

Bryan- “… the BNP have been forced to remove their racial restrictions…”

Forced by who? By what authority? It doesn’t seem right, and I agree with Liam and John P in that regard. Perhaps new non-white members of the BNP could be equipped with body armor or, better yet, perhaps all members could be supplied with automatic weapons and live ammunition so they can communicate in a meaningful fashion.

That last thought sounds somewhat impractical…

Are you talking about this line?
“In the long run, we wish to end the conflict in Ireland by welcoming Eire as well as Ulster as equal partners in a federation of the nations of the British Isles.”

I can’t find any other statement referring to Ireland in their manifesto, or about invading us.

Where did you see this in their manifesto, Grainne? Be specific, please.

Grainne, damn you for making me log on to their site ;-) my computer feels dirty now anyhoo here is what they say, it seems to be more an invitation, which I’m sure we will never take up and I’d probably agree with their policy on ending a state sponsorship of segregared education.

NORTHERN IRELAND — an end to sectarianism!

Britain has shamefully allowed the terrorists in Northern Ireland to come close to winning when the IRA could have been destroyed years ago. Government weakness has led to hundreds of deaths and given those same terrorists a share in government. We would end all attempts to force the people of Northern Ireland to accept foreign interference in their affairs and deal with terrorism — from whatever side — once and for all. No one with links to a terrorist organisation that refuses to lay down its arms should be allowed to enter government. We would abolish state-supported segregation in education. In the long run, we wish to end the conflict in Ireland by welcoming Eire as well as Ulster as equal partners in a federation of the nations of the British Isles

I’ve been to Europe a couple of times (I live in the US). Ireland, Germany, Holland, France, Czech Rep.

It is not uncommon to see feral black men cruising urban areas. “Inappropriate” was the first thing that struck me. I later found out that indeed it is very inappropriate.

That being said, immigration is the same as the Saturday night bar routine. The ladies put up a defense to ward off the assholes. They figure on cooling things down, but nice guys don’t have time for games. Only the assholes sit and wait.

Same with immigration. How could an immigrant possibly get a (legitimate) middle class job in the UK?

I know it’s not easy. I’ve been looking for an “opportunity” — anywhere — for some time. Even if it requires $40k in student loans.

I don’t know what vampares means by asking how an immigrant could get a legitimate middle class job in the UK.
When I lived there, I regularly met Africans and Asians in good jobs in banks, as solicitors, doctors and other health professionals.
