New Music – Max Future, Husky Loops, Sigrid
New music to check out from Paris, London and Bergen
Every week, we highlight a couple of new acts from around the globe who’ve caught our attention. Please feel free to share tips with us or check out all past New Music selections here.
Paris-based producer and musician Max Zippel is also a member of Concorde, but it’s his solo material which is really primed for takeoff. Zippel’s debut EP for Panache is a beauty which comes packed with next-level sweet pop twists, infectious melodies and strong hooks. One to watch out for.
Husky Loops are a bunch of Londoners aiming to put some blood and a lot of art in the music. Their tracks to date, especially the thumping “Fighting Myself” come decked out with rigour, zim and a lot of visceral giddiness. It all makes for an enticing and exhilirating racket which you can imagine picking up a lot of fans in the months ahead.
Born in the small town of Ålesund and now based in Bergen, Sigrid is the Norwegian pop star you’ve been waiting to come along for a while. Debut single “Don’t Kill My Vibe” is fully-formed, a big, bright and bold track which gets bigger, brighter and bolder as the song progresses. She’s got a magnificent voice and a mighty handle on what a modern day pop anthem needs to possess. A 20 year old going places fast.
