We always wondered why there was very little festival action in Ireland over the winter months. After all, when you consider that the weather is often winter-like during the summer thus negating any seasonal advantage, it kind of makes sense to put on events in venues with roofs, walls and floors. But with the exception of the likes of Other Voices, Sligo Live and Hard Working Class Heroes, few were prepared to have a go.

Last year’s big entry on the scene was Metropolis and they’re back for more this November. Here’s a list of the current declared day by day runners and riders for the RDS event:

Thursday November 3

DJ Shadow

Friday November 4

Solomun
Moderat
SBTRKT (DJ Set)
BADBADNOTGOOD
Girl Band

Saturday November 5

Grace Jones
Booka Shade (Movements 10)
Crystal Castles
The Sugarhill Gang
Fatima Yamaha
Fakear

More acts and stuff to be announced

Tickets: it’s €39.50 for Thursday, €79.50 for Friday or Saturday, €145 for Friday and Saturday and €164.50 if you want to do all three nights. Add in the usual Ticketmaster nods and winks to those prices. There’s also a Ticket Instalment Plan where you can pay 50 per cent now and the rest before October 3.
