Meet the connectors
The men and women joining the dots in modern pop
There’s nothing new about the art of collaboration between musicians, but it seems to have become far more pronounced of late. A certain slew of artists – namely folks like Dev Hynes, James Blake and Hudson Mohawke – seem to spend their time flitting from studio to studio and turn up on the most interesting releases of the season as a result. From Anohni’s “Hopelessness” to Beyonce’s “Lemonade”, you can join a line between these connectors and the worlds they represent. I wrote about these connectors in Saturday’s paper and the way in which they overlap and operate and you’ll find the piece here.
