Lights, cameras, waves: the return of Shore Shots
Ireland’s surfing and film festival moves to Sligo
It’s the fourth year of Shore Shots and Ireland’s only surf and film festival moves west to Sligo, the spiritual home of cold-water surfing in the country for a run of films and other events inspired by the waves around the west coast.
Over the weekend of April 16 and 17, the fest will feature screenings of Atlantic (Risteard “The Pipe” O’Domhnaill’s forthcoming film about the political, economic and environmental mismanagement which sums up Ireland’s continuing disregard for its own waters), Faroes (a premierie of Chris Burkard and Ben Weiland’s Outposts film about the Faroe Islands) and Bear Island (Inge Wegge’s film about exploring and surfing in Bjoynoya) in The Model in Sligo.
Other events taking place around Sligo over the weekend will include photography exhibitions, food and surf trails, a surf market and beach yoga. Key surfers, film producers and music makers who will be in town for the event include Nic Von Rupp, George Karbus, Tim Nunn, Liquid Therapy, Chris Burkard, Easkey Britton, Barry Mottershead, Peter Clyne, Peter Conroy, Donal Dineen and February & Mars.
