New Music – Deers, Max Jury, Glycerine Queens

New music winners from Madrid, Des Moines and New Jersey

Here are the latest New Music selections from the On The Record column in tomorrow’s edition of The Ticket. Please feel free to share tips below or check out all past New Music selections here.

This is one freak scene you’ll want to join. From Madrid, Deers were formed by Ana Garcia Perrote and Carlotta Cosials, and were subsequently joined by Ade Martin and Amber Grimbergen to make ramshackle pop music full of intriguing cracks and creaks. Tracks like “Bamboo” and “Trippy Gum”, from their debut single for Mom+Pop and Lucky Number, are the only summer jams you need this week.

Max Jury

Singer-songwriter from Des Moines in Iowa already exuding ace craftsmanship and swagger as seen on his “Something In the Air” EP. The one-time Berklee College of Music student has toured with Lana Del Rey and others and plays Irish dates in October calling to Limerick (Dolan’s, 3), Galway (Roisin Dubh, 4) and Dublin (Workman’s, 5).

Glycerine Queens

All-girl band from New Jersey kicking up some heat with a raucous blend of psych-rock and wild alt-rock. Their new “Sleep Deprivation” EP, produced by fellow Neptune City native Nicole Atkins, is full of surfy riffs and melancholic drifts, as “She Thinks She Knows” shows.
