DJ Rashad RIP
House and footwork pioneer Rashad Harden dies at the age of 35
Sad news out of Chicago over the weekend about the death of house and footwork pioneer DJ Rashad at the age of 35 from a suspected drug overdrose. Rashad Harden had been on a roll of late with an excellent album (“Double Cup”) released in late 2013 bringing the veteran DJ and producer, who has been releasing tracks since the early 1990s, to a wider audience. The album was fresh and futuristic, pulling ideas from all over the musical map, from bass to house to techno to soul-jazz, to form a new alluring canvas. His new EP “We On One” is due for release on Hyperdub in the coming weeks.
