Here are the latest New Music selections from the On The Record column in tomorrow’s edition of The Ticket. Please feel free to share tips below or check out all past New Music selections here.

Phlo Finister

Magnetic, striking, ethereal r’n’b from the Oakland, California singer (and former Def Jam stylist) whose “Poster Girl” EP is a bit of a wow. Listen to “Coca Cola Classic’ or “Hotel Miami” and get ready to swoon over that exquisite voice, those slinky, sultry beats and these elegant whispers of songs.

With every new release, Ben Garrett is demonstrating new depths and widths to his musical pace and space. The Londoner’s “Love So Cold” and “On Our Own” were fine turns of small hours r’n’b and old-school pop respectively, while new tune “Cool Like Me” is a gush and rush of prime-time electro-pop with loads of swagger. One to watch for sure.

Thunderous grooves with skyscraping hooks from Chicester is post-punk band Traams’ stock-in-trade. Debut album “Grin” is set for release in September on Fat Cat and we hope it has tunes as scuzzy, unkempt and kicking as “Flowers” (below) “Jack” or “Mexico”.
