Big gaggle of acts for this year’s Beck’s Vier Rhythm Weekend from the Choice Cuts crew in Dublin’s Meeting House Square from October 18 to 20.

Those playing in the heart of Temple Bar at BVRW2012 include De La Soul’s First Serve, Rejjie Snow (formerly known as Lecs Luther) and Onra (Thursday 18, tickets €25 or a Double Ticket to admit two for €45); Nicole Willis and The Soul Investigators, Hot 8 Brass Band and the North Strand Klezmer Band (Friday 19, tickets €20 or €35 for a double ticket) and Hypnotic Brass Ensemble and Dublin Afrobeat Ensemble (Saturday 20, tickets €22.50 or €40 for a double ticket), with Derrick May playing the BVRW2012 Aftershow Party at Twisted Pepper (tickets €15). A weekend pass is €50 (all ticket prices do not include agency charges)

The warm-up for the Weekender is an exhibition of the late Mati Klarwein’s work at Filmbase, which opens on October 14. The Hamburg-born Klarwein, who said “I am only half German and only half Jewish with an Arab soul and a African heart”, is best known for working on a rake of album covers for the likes of Buddy Miles, Leonard Bernstein, Santana, Miles Davis’ (“Bitches Brew” below) and many more. The exhibition will be curated by his son, Balthazar, is open every afternoon and evening until October 21 and admission is free.
