Here are the latest New Music selections from the On The Record column in tomorrow’s edition of The Ticket. Please feel free to share tips below or check out all past New Music selections here.

The Black Opera

Self-proclaimed collective of “artistic freedom fighters” who are also producing banging hip-hop tunes. Now hooked up with the Mello Music label and working with producers like Apollo Brown, Tall Black Guy, 14KT, Nick Speed and J-Rell, check out the funk on “Opera Hands” from their forthcoming “EnterMission” album.

Holy Esque

Glasgow School of Art students producing powerful, graceful, stunning sounds with touches of dramatic grandstanding (that would be partly down to singer Pat Hynes’ distinctive voice). A tour with Wu Lyf, an EP release and new tune “Tear” has set them up as ones to watch in the coming months.

Rah Rah

It’s a Regina thing: Rah Rah are the second band from the city in Canada’s Saskatchewan province to feature here in recent times after Indigo Joseph. Rah Rah hooked us thanks to the epic big music drawl of new single “Art and A Wife” from their forthcoming “The Poet’s Dead” album. One for those who dig sparkling, harmonic indie pop a la Broken Social Scene.
