If a well-known betting company opened a book on what summer show should sell out in a flash, the odds-on favourite would be David Guetta’s appearance at Marlay Park on August 24. OTR’s favourite Gallic superstar DJ (one of our favourite interviewees from last year) tops a bill which also includes Example, Benny Benassi, Rizzle Kicks (superb act), Wolfgang Gartner and Tommy Trash. Tickets for this party in the park go on sale next Wednesday at €49.50 (plus a long, lingering look from Ticketmaster) a pop.

Guetta is the second show confirmed for Marlay Park with a bumper bill featring Van Morrison, Tom Jones and Bobby Womack announced earlier in the week for August 25. Tickets for this one are €59.50 (plus TM etc) and are now on sale.

We can expect more Marlay Park shows. Per OTR reader BD, it seems that MCD have applied for up to 9 concerts to be held at the south county Dublin park before August 31, where the field will have a stated capacity of 22,000. The application also makes reference to an existing contract as the basis of the landowners’ consent to the shows. And, for anyone planning a beano in a south Dublin park, the cost of the application for the licence is €2.500. Bargain!
